Jean Liu is a director, producer and some times writer from the UK and China.

 

With a background in documentary, Jean likes telling grounded stories full of observational details.

Jean’s latest short narrative film, CORPSE FISHING, was executive produced by Lena Waithe as part of Hillman Grad and Indeed's Rising Voices program and premiered at 2024 Tribeca Film Festival. 

 

LEARNING ENGLISH, her first foray into writing and directing narrative, premiered in live action shorts competition at SXSW 2024 and went on to win numerous awards for Best Comedy on the festival circuit.

Jean is a graduate of USC’s Stark Producing Program, where she awarded a BAFTA/Pigott Scholarship.
